Mission
The
mission of St. Isidore Catholic School is to promote an environment of
Christian growth and learning which enable students, their families, and
the faculty and staff to experience the lifelong benefits of Catholic
education.
History
St.
Isidore School was established in 1960 as a small local school for
families in this area of Baton Rouge. Our school was started by a
group of dedicated Catholic families for their children. In the
beginning we only had Kindergarten through 3rd grade, and students had to
be Catholic to attend. When we first opened the doors the Ott Center
was the church, and the classrooms surrounding it were the school
classrooms. The cafeteria was a wooden building in the center of the
parking lot. We also shared a secretary and office space with the
church. In 1969 the tuition was $15.00 for Kindergarten and $7.00
for 1st-3rd grade.
My
how we have grown! We now encompass 9 regular classrooms, a
library, computer lab, science lab, P.E. room, and religion room. We
have expanded to include Pre-K through 6th grade. While St. Isidore
has certainly changed over the years, we are still a school that cares
about family, tradition, and learning in a Catholic environment.
