Enrichment
Curriculum
Religion
Class
The curriculum used at St.
Isidore in the Religion class is the "We Believe" program by
Sadlier, Company approved by the Diocese and is in compliance with the
Cathechism of the Catholic Church. The program is rooted in
scripture, faithful to the tradition of the Catholic Church, and spirited
by the General Directory of Catechesis. Textbooks for each grade
level are grade appropriate. In addition, the Religion program
supports all service projects: Thanksgiving Food Drive, Angle Tree,
and Operation Rice Bowl. The school participate in all school Masses
and Catholic Schools Week activities.
Physical
Education
In Physical Education class the
students learn rules of play and techniques for sports including football,
basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, kickball, and softball. Also
techniques are learned for hula hoop and jump rope. Time is spent on
increasing awareness of the importance of physical education and
activities to promote good personal hygiene. We also take time to
talk about the harmful effects of smoking, using drugs, and alcohol.
We will touch on making good decisions for body, mind, and spirit and to
ensure a good future of doing the same.
Library
The St. Isidore Library houses
over 3500 volumes. It also receives six monthly publications and
three professional publications.
In weekly Library classes,
students are exposed to all genres of literature and are given instruction
in research skills. Accelerated reader is also a large component of
the St. Isidore School Library program.
Computer
COMPUTERTOTS/COMPUTER EXPLORERS
is now teaching children at St. Isidore from Pre-K all the way through 6th
grade! Pre-K and Kindergarten receive COMPUTERTOTS classes-learning
about the parts of the computer, basic operations of the computer,
software, and more while their skills from the classroom are reinforced
using preschool skills software and activities. Students in grades
1-6 are learning keyboarding, word-processing, and graphics this
year. Next year, they will also be learning spreadsheets, databases,
multimedia and internet research skills (we might get to some of those
this year!) COMPUTER EXPLORERS has a curriculum that uses session
cards to teach the skills. Once the skills have been introduced, the
students will complete a project using classroom content to integrate the
classroom learning with the technology skills.
